Happy New Year!
I thought it would be nice to start off the new year with a difficult project. I aquired this image from the Library of Congress website where they have many public domain images. I believe this image was taken by Mathew Brady as his name is watermarked on the chair, who was a civil war era photographer. I do not know the name of the gentleman in the photo.
I began in Photoshop with the original download, corrected the damages, masked in some wall paper, curtain and carpet designs, then popped it into Lightroom to finish off with enhancements to make it cleaner and sharper. All and all the final black and white image took me 10+ hours from start to finish.
Come back and see the colourized version next week as I plan to completely convert it into colour.
